At sixteen years old, I left home with a suitcase and a dream.
I thought football would make me happy.
I thought success would solve my problems.
I thought the difficult parts of life happened to other people.
I was wrong.
Over the next forty years I would experience professional football, rejection, success, failure, bereavement, single parenthood, business ownership, property investment and more than one opportunity to start again. Along the way I learned something that took me far too long to understand. Success and happiness are not the same thing.
Today I share lessons from football, business and life that help people navigate pressure, setbacks, uncertainty and change.
Because life doesn't always go to plan.
Sometimes that's where the real story begins.
