Your second half starts here

Half time TALKS
Paul Watson
Speaker | Mentor | Former Professional Footballer
Helping People Turn Adversity Into Opportunity
At sixteen years old, I left home with a suitcase and a dream to become a professional footballer with Newcastle United.
What followed was a life that rarely went according to plan.
Over the next forty years, I played professional football in England, Scotland, Belgium and New Zealand.
I got released by the club I loved, built businesses, invested in property, travelled the world, became a single parent, supported professional footballers, worked as a scout and mentor, performed stand-up comedy, I even got arrested on live television and eventually found myself being held at gun point in Tony Blair's greenhouse wearing nothing but my underpants.
Yes... that last one is true.
Today, I share the lessons I've learned from a lifetime of triumphs, disasters, wrong turns, lucky breaks and second chances.
My talks combine humour, honesty and powerful real-life experiences to help audiences navigate adversity, change, pressure and uncertainty.
Whether I'm speaking to football clubs, schools, colleges, businesses or community groups, my message is simple:
Success and happiness are not the same thing.
Audiences leave entertained, inspired and equipped with practical tools to deal with life's challenges, build resilience and recognise that their best days do not have to be behind them.
Because as I've discovered...
Sometimes the second half is where the magic happens.

Helping People Turn Adversity Into Opportunity
At sixteen years old, I left home with a suitcase and a dream.
I thought football would make me happy.
I thought success would solve my problems.
I thought the difficult parts of life happened to other people.
I was wrong.
Over the next forty years I would experience professional football, rejection, success, failure, bereavement, single parenthood, business ownership, property investment and more than one opportunity to start again.
Along the way I learned something that took me far too long to understand.
Success and happiness are not the same thing.
Today I share lessons from football, business and life that help people navigate pressure, setbacks, uncertainty and change.
Because life doesn't always go to plan.
Sometimes that's where the real story begins
